This New DC Universe Film Is Called Similar to Avengers

Entering March, it’s time for the DC Universe to return to the big screen with its new film entitled Shazam Fury of the Gods. Acting as a sequel, this film directed by David F. Sanberg will again tell the adventures of Billy Batson and his superhero family, where now they have to face the wrath of the goddesses who are the children of Atlas, namely Hespera and Kalypso. Ahead of its release, Sanberg claimed that Shazam 2 was much like the Avengers films in the MCU.

The last time we see Billy and his adopted family of Freddy, Eugene, Darla, Mary, and Pedro, is when they become the Shazam Family in the first film. Where everyone can turn into adult superheroes who have super powers and can fly when they say the word “Shazam!” The presence of many incarnations of the superhero Shazam in the film Fury of the Gods indirectly makes this latest DC Universe show like a crossover film, especially since the enemy is the Daughters of Atlas whose weapons have the potential to destroy the world.

According to David F. Sanberg himself, in his latest interview with GamesRadar, his DC films are indeed similar to ‘mini-Avengers’. “This (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) is like a mini-Avengers movie. That’s how I see it because there are so many characters. [Inside] there are many superheroes, supervillains, even monsters. A lot of interesting stuff is baked into its runtime and it’s complicated. Shooting and showing 11 characters in one scene is really hard!” he said.

On the other hand, Sanberg also promised that this latest DC film would still be able to compete with various other superhero films. “When we did the first one, we had a lower budget, and it was a small film. But because this one gets more resources, we really feel like we can compete with other superhero movies,” added Sanberg confidently.

Considering that the first film was quite fun to watch, it is not impossible that the same thing will happen to Shazam Fury of the Gods. As just stated by Sanberg, this sequel film has a lot of potential to be bigger in all its aspects. So if you are loyal fans of DC, especially the superhero Shazam, it is a must to watch the film, which will be shown in theaters worldwide starting on March 17th.
