We have entered the month of December. This means only counting the days until Christmas celebrations arrive. Even though Christmas is only one day a year, Christmas movies can be enjoyed all year round. It’s time to re-watch Christmas-themed films that have been released in previous years. There are various genres that can be watched ranging from family, comedy, animation, to horror.

  1. A Christmas Prince (73%)

Netflix released a film about Christmas called A Christmas Prince on November 17, 2017. The setting of this film is in the fictional country of Aldovia. As the film takes place during Christmas, of course the snowy landscapes and dense forests shown in the film create an aesthetic. It is similar to the winter scenery in the Disney film Beauty and the Beast. Genre of romantic comedy, this film was directed by Alex Zamm in collaboration with writers Karen Schaler and Nathan Atkins.

A Christmas Prince tells the story of a rookie journalist named Amber (Rose McIver) who has to spend Christmas in New York with her father. He is sent overseas to find information about Prince Richard (Ben Lamb). This Prince Richard will become King of Aldovia after the recent death of his father. However, it seems that the press conference held by the palace was canceled before it started because the prince did not show up.

Refusing to go home before receiving information, Amber sneaked in and didn’t follow the group of journalists who were returning. He then meets Princess Emily and is mistaken for her new tutor from America. In the end he went undercover to get information about Prince Richard. Will he accept the throne or not, or is he planning to give up and let his cousin ascend the throne instead.

  1. Happy Christmas (75%)

The Happy Christmas film was released in theaters on July 25 2014. This film focuses on domestic problems. It is told that a harmonious family lives in Chicago, America. They are Jeff (Joe Swanberg) who works as a film director, Kelly (Melanie Lynskey) a novelist and housewife, and Jude (Jude Swanberg) who is only two years old.

However, once Jeff’s younger sister came. He needed a place to stay after breaking up with his girlfriend. Jenny (Anna Kendrick) ends up living with the small family. While under the same roof, Jenny seemed to be a bit of a annoyance to Kelly, it prompted her to take a better look at her own life and career. On the other hand, Jenny’s existence, who lives with her brother’s family, is precisely to overcome the separation that destroyed their lives.

  1. A Christmas Horror Story (83%)

A Christmas Horror Story was released in theaters on October 2, 2015. This film is a horror, mystery, thriller and comedy genre. The film is set in the fictional town of Bailey Downs, which was rocked one year earlier by tragedy. As radio host Dangerous Dan (William Shatner) guides the town through Christmas Eve, a variety of evil forces wreak havoc on the peaceful community.

Grant Harvey directed Changeling and Krampus in the Woods, Brett Sullivan directed Teens in the Haunted School, and Steve Hoban directed Santa vs. Zombie Elves. This film also has a cinematographer named Gavin Smith. He helped them to maintain consistency and let each story have its own style.

Arthur Christmas is one of the Christmas-themed films that was released on November 11, 2011. This is an animated film collaboration between England and America produced by Sony Pictures Animation with Aardman Animations. Directed by Sarah Smith and Barry Cook, this film focuses on the main character named Arthur Claus. The voice cast for this film includes James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen.

Arthur Christmas film tells the story of Arthur Claus who is the son of Father Christmas. He discovers that Santa’s high-tech ship has failed to deliver a present to a girl. Finally he set out on a mission to save the girl’s Christmas. He assembles a team of his free-spirit grandfather, a Christmas elf obsessed with wrapping presents for children, and eight reindeer who are strong and magical but untrained.
