Synopsis Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Starting this May, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will return to the big screen. As an opening, Marvel presents the second Doctor Strange film, titled Multiverse of Madness.

Multiverse of Madness is a sequel to 2016’s first Doctor Strange 2 film and a continuation of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released last December. This time, the main focus of the story again shifts to Stephen Strange; the surgeon who gains magical powers after an accident.

After helping Spider-Man open and close the multiuniverse gates, apparently Stephen has not been able to escape from the problems of another dimension. Often having nightmares about a teenage girl, Stephen is finally able to meet the person who terrorized him; America Chavez, a multiuniverse explorer who needs his help.

America’s arrival did not only bring questions for Stephen, but also new problems to the MCU world; His new friend is being chased by the devil. And, the only person who understands about the demon is Wanda Maximoff, a former Avenger who has a tendency to be evil.

Can Stephen persuade Wanda to help him and defeat the demon chasing America? Or is there a bigger conspiracy behind all of this?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness held its world premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on May 2, 2022. The film was released in the United Kingdom on May 5, 2022, and in the United States on May 6, in 4DX, RealD 3D, IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and Superscreen. It was originally set for release on May 7, 2021, but was pushed back to November 5, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before it was further shifted to March 25, 2022, after Sony rescheduled Spider-Man: No Way Home to November 2021. In October 2021, it was shifted once more to its current May 2022 date. The film is part of Phase Four of the MCU.
