Brief review and Synopsis of the Anime ‘Chainsaw Man’

Good news for anime lovers! The Chainsaw Man anime is confirmed to be airing in October 2022 through the Crunchyroll application platform and official streaming website.

Launching from Crunchyroll, the anime produced by Studio MAPPA, the studio behind the popular anime ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ and ‘Attack on Titan Final Season’, will air through the official Crunchyroll streaming platform.

On August 6, 2022, the MAPPA Youtube channel also conducted a live broadcast with the voice actors for the characters in Chainsaw Man, and discussed this anime.

The Chainsaw Man adaptation was first announced in December 2020, when the event’s Twitter account revealed some of the anime’s first-ever artwork, as well as a notification that it would be working on an adaptation by MAPPA.

Chainsaw Man is an adaptation of the manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto which was first published in 2018. The popularity of this manga is unquestionable, it is certain that fans will really look forward to the adaptation of this manga into an anime.

Synopsis of Chainsaw Man Anime

The anime ‘Chainsaw Man’ tells the story of a young man named Denji who has to bear his father’s debt to the Yakuza. Denji has to live a daily life without a father figure. It is known that his father died in an accident. However, it doesn’t stop there, Denji’s suffering still has to continue. This is because it is known that his father has a very large debt with the Yakuza. Denji’s life was filled with a very violent Yakuza chase. Fortunately, he is still allowed to live as long as he wants to work odd jobs and kill demons for the Yakuza.

Denji actually wants to have a peaceful life and spend the rest of his time with the woman he loves. But his dream was shattered when his father died and left a huge debt for Denji to bear on his shoulders. In order to make up for the debt, he must work to kill demons.

His life was changed forever when his body merged with the corpse of his pet dog, Pochita. Denji has a pet dog named Pochita. Pochita is a demon dog that she previously saved.

The dog is actually a demon, he has a saw on his head which is used as a mainstay weapon to destroy opponents. One day Denji realized that the Yakuza betrayed him by sending a demon to kill him.

Denji is killed by the Zombie Devil and Pochita is seriously injured, but previously they had made a deal that allowed Pochita to team up with Denji, reviving him as a human-demon hybrid with Pochita’s chainsaw abilities.

Denji finally comes back to life with Pochita’s demon form united with his body, he gets the nickname as ‘Chainsaw Man,’ because he has a saw in his head and hands. Denji kills the Zombie Devil as an act of revenge.

His changes make Denji recruited to enter the Public Security Demon hunter. He then worked hard because he didn’t want to disappoint Makima who recruited him to be a member of the hunter.

An interesting fact about Chainsaw Man is that several artists or mangaka are fans of this popular manga. They include mangaka ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’, Gege Akutami, actress Minami Hamabe, Naoki Urasawa, and singer from Indonesia, Kunto Aji.

Then there is also the mangaka ‘My Hero Academia’, Kohei Horikoshi. He even immortalized the Chainsaw Man character in chapter 259 of My Hero Academia.

So that’s a brief review of Chainsaw Man which will air in October this year.
